With Crowdcube you can get a steady fixed-rate income from your investments by lending to more established businesses. Traditionally aimed at institutional investors and out of reach of everyday investors; mini-bonds are a way for you to lend money to more well-known brands over a set period, typically 4-5 years, in return for interest repayments.

John Lewis, Hotel Chocolat, King of Shaves, Naked Wines, River Cottage and Chilango have, amongst others, all chosen this innovative route to finance their growth in recent years.

  • Lend money to more establish brands
  • Earn a regular fixed income, typically between 6-8% interest p.a.
  • Your initial investment repaid in a lump sum at the end of the term
  • Get exclusive rewards from the issuing company

For example, say you invest £1,000 in a mini-bond, with interest 8% per annum and a term of four years. This means you’ll receive a total of £80 of interest per year for the next four years, or £320 in total. When the bond matures after four years you’ll get your £1,000 back. Mini-bonds put your capital at risk; they are unsecured, non-convertible and non-transferable.

Investing in start-ups and early stage businesses involves risks, including illiquidity, lack of dividends, loss of investment and dilution, and it should be done only as part of a diversified portfolio. Crowdcube is targeted exclusively at investors who are sufficiently sophisticated to understand these risks and make their own investment decisions. You will only be able to invest via Crowdcube once you are registered as sufficiently sophisticated.
