Propelling females in VR/AR/IoT fields inspired to raise capital and grow with Women of Wearables & Crowdcube partnership

By Partners. 30th Jun 2017

Co-founded by Marija Butkovic and Michelle Hua, Women of Wearables (WoW) is the UK’s and Europe’s first organisation that inspires, supports and connects women in wearable tech, fashion tech, IoT and VR/AR by providing visibility, support, mentorship and connections through events and wearable tech workshops. Its mission is to encourage more women and diverse teams to participate in building hardware and software products as designers, product managers and developers or being founders of their own companies, as well as create more jobs for women in STEM (Science, technology, engineering, and mathematics).

Crowdcube is ecstatic to partner with WoW, another fantastic female led initiative that enables and connects women from all over the world. The newly formed collaboration will create an exciting platform for businesses within WoW’s community to access a wealth of knowledge, coaching and venture opportunities to take their company to the next stage of growth. As a leader in propelling females into the wearables space, WoW represents a pivotal hub for ambitious women to converge in London.

This new partnership is the perfect way for Crowdcube to add real value and to help female founders to scale faster through diversified routes to capital. From Crowdcube’s perspective, the more support inspired and vision-led female founders can get around how to raise and navigate their funding journey, the better.

As pictured above, Marija Butkovic, co-founder of WoW and thought leader in the tech scene, is excited about the potential and believes that:

“Offering female founders in our Women of Wearables network deeper and more customised insights into the options they have to raise money will be so valuable for all the ambitious female entrepreneurs who are part of the globally-orientated WoW community.”

Through this relationship, Crowdcube’s Equity Coaches will be able to plug into WoW’s bespoke accelerator programme, with hands-on workshops, Venture Labs and Founder Talks. The collaboration between WoW and Crowdcube it a perfect with and supports our vision of helping early-stage teams access the right resources they need to execute smart venture strategies, raising anything from £50k to £5m.

Startups inside WoW’s network will benefit from hands-on learning sessions that shine light on ways to strategically tap into the largest equity investor base in the Europe, alongside powerful VC networks and angel investors, whilst leveraging the critical customer-investor conversion that equity crowdfunding drives. By tapping into Crowdcube resources and expertise, WoW members will be able to better navigate the challenges of raising investment, and supercharge company growth in the right direction.
