Crowdcube, more global than ever

Flags

You might have noticed that we’ve made a change to the Crowdcube platform...

We’re helping a growing number of businesses outside of the UK raise finance, so we’ve introduced Flags to help you identify global investment opportunities that are live on Crowdcube.

We want you to be able to diversify your portfolio geographically and this new feature will allow you to identify opportunities at a glance. Investing in international businesses, as a way to diversify your portfolio, is now clearer and easier than ever.

With investors from over 100 countries, Crowdcube has a strong international community, with the top countries by number of investors, outside of the UK, including Spain, Ireland, Italy, Australia and Germany.

Our diverse investor community makes us the first choice for many European businesses that want to reach an international investor base. Besides the UK, the Crowdcube platform has successfully raised funds for companies based in Spain, Ireland and the US. In addition to our Spanish office, which has European reach, the number of US-based companies on Crowdcube will increase significantly in the coming months.

In 2017 alone, Crowdcube successfully funded 148 companies, 23 of which were based outside the UK and raised a combined total of over €8.3m, which is an increase of 56% from 2016. A few examples include:

  • Wave (Spain). £1.5m raised in two cross-border capital raises on Crowdcube.
  • Keen Home (US). Nearly £3m raised from 300 investors in a dual campaign through Crowdcube and SeedInvest.
  • House my Dog (Ireland). £500k raised from 355 investors.
  • Santamania (Spain). £1m raised from 759 investors on Crowdcube, making it the biggest ever equity crowdfunding round in Spain.

In other international news, earlier this year, Spanish fintech startup Zank was responsible for our first cross-border exit, as the company was acquired by Fintonic and delivered over 250 Crowdcube investors a positive return on their investment. Zank had raised €725,000 on the platform and its success shows how Crowdcube continues to grow and strengthen globally.

Our current international opportunities include companies such as Nanusens (Spain), Splash Wines (US), Playerhunter (Austria) and Nootric (Spain).

At the moment, this feature is only available on our desktop site but it'll be coming to our apps soon!
