Crowdcube's second exit announced: Camden Town Brewery
By Crowdcube. 22nd Dec 2015
Camden Town Brewery, which raised £2,750,000 in April this year thanks to 2,173 Crowdcube investors, has announced that it has been acquired by Anheuser-Busch InBev (AB InBev), the largest brewer in the world with 25% market share. The sale will deliver a multiple return to its investors and pave the way for further growth and expansion.
Camden Town Brewery was founded by Jasper Cuppaidge with the vision to create one of the best breweries in the world. With the first beer being sold in 2010, the company has gone on to win numerous awards, expand its team to over 60 employees from 20 different nationalities and supply hundreds of top pubs and restaurants across the world.
Today marks a new milestone for the company and for crowdfunding. From closing its funding round on the 22nd April, eight months later the company has announced its exit.
Our Co-Founder Luke Lang, states "This deal is great news for investors in Camden Town Brewery. It clearly demonstrates that our crowd of savvy investors is a shrewd judge of investment potential. Camden's pitch prompted widespread discussion with many finance and industry experts being publicly disparaging of its valuation. I expect they will be choking on their Christmas turkey following news of the company’s sale and investors’ multiple return within 12 months. Christmas has come early for the Hells Raisers of Camden."
By forming this strategic partnership with AB InBev Camden's aim is to bring more beers to more people, whilst continuing to innovate.
The acquisition is expected to close on the 07 January and if you are a shareholder in the company, you will have already been contacted by Camden with more details.
