Crowdcube ranked top for funds raised

This week Beauhurst have released their market update for H1 2019, designed to highlight emerging trends in equity investment. We’ve also just celebrated our sixth record-breaking quarter, so it seems like the perfect time to take a look at how the equity investment market is evolving.

Beauhurst’s report revealed that “British crowdfunders invested £98.2m through 187 deals in the first half of 2019.” We’re very pleased to say that we’ve raised the largest amount of investment for businesses through crowdfunding this year, cementing our position as the UK’s leading equity crowdfunding platform.

So far, this year we’ve helped 83 UK-based businesses raise a total of £55.6m to help fuel the next stage of their development. During this period we saw 34% more completed investment than our nearest competitor. That gap is even greater when you focus on new crowdfunding rounds as opposed to enforced pre-emption rounds. We’re really proud to have partnered with so many fantastic entrepreneurs and look forward to helping even more businesses grow.

We’re also lucky enough to partner with lots of entrepreneurs based overseas. If you take those raises into account, our total for the first half of this year actually stands at £62.8m raised for 95 businesses. In our international teams, investment grew 63% in H1 compared to 2018, after a record €7m was successfully invested into Spanish businesses. You can find all of this information and more in our recent H1 update.

Interestingly, Fintech has seen more money invested than in any other half, having “already beaten figures for the whole of 2018.” This is a trend that we have watched grow, with the likes of Freetrade and Money Dashboard raising again with us earlier this year. Beauhurst has already crowned Fintech the UK’s most successful sector in a report released in May. This is definitely something we’ve seen reflected here at Crowdcube; find out why we think it’s such a sought-after sector here.

As always, we remain focused on continuing this growth for the remainder of the year as we aim to help even more investors connect with entrepreneurs so they can take their vision to the next level.
