WELD is an accessible on-demand health, fitness and wellbeing platform for all ages & abilities. Instructors teach both on & offline – renting out home/business spaces – and users get 2% referral rewards. WELD aims to improve their platform, boost marketing and plug the fitness & wellness gap.
In our view the health & wellbeing market is split into separate segments. Big brands dominate, offering a standard catch-all service while taking a big cut from instructors. This limits the market to a particular group and competition for these customers is fierce.
WELD makes health and wellbeing personal by offering a wealth of on- and offline activities, all via our free app. It was founded after the founder survived cancer and realised the urgent need for accessible physical & mental health services.
Users and instructors name the time and place, rent out their home or commercial spaces for activities, or just interact 1-2-1 online.
This approach helps personal trainers hit by the Covid-19 lockdown find clients. They’re also free to set their own prices and keep 90% of their fees. Meanwhile, customers enjoy a 2% commission on referrals for every future session taken in perpetuity.
WELD taps into the $94bn global fitness and wellness market, which grew 8.7% from 2018/19. The £5.1bn UK market – where 1/7 people go to the gym and 230k use personal trainers – grew 4% over the same period.
Our primary target audience is Generation Z, who are known for being an active generation which has strongly embraced wellness.
As well as providing a marketing boost, funding will help us to improve WELD’s design, functionality and algorithms, and bridge the gap between fitness and wellness.
