VRU, a brand of wearemedia Ltd, is a location-based entertainment initiative aiming to attract some of the UK’s 32.9m gamers to high-end virtual reality gaming centres and e-sports events. Funding will provide equipment, marketing and staff for our venture.
VR Universe is bringing Virtual Reality gaming experiences to the high street.
VR/AR sales reached $4.4bn in 2016 with revenue expected to be $108bn by 2021.
The IAB report “Gaming Britain: A Country United by Digital Play” calculated around 32.9 million game players in the UK alone.
We believe expensive equipment is a barrier to users. A recent Greenlight report highlighted location-based VR entertainment as a rapid growth area. We aim to establish a trusted brand, aligned with high quality immersive experiences.
We're aiming to strategically aligned with VR producers and partners securing the provision of equipment and insights into development cycles providing the latest experiences.
We have options on our first location, all of which are planned to be in high footfall areas.
Over the last 6 months we have:
• Created a range of VR experiences for architects
• Developed an AR app for a publishing house
• Presented at regional Universities
• Attracted 1400 Facebook followers in 3 months
VRU Universe aims to have a permanent team of 4 staff and have a supporting network of developers to help us build our product.
