SOAR creates beautiful performance running wear, with cutting-edge fabrics and innovative design. Its direct-to-consumer sales have grown 94% year-on-year, and each garment’s blend of performance and style has led some to describe SOAR as the ‘Rapha of running’. SOAR seeks investment to scale.
Born from a desire for beautiful performance running wear, SOAR creates technically innovative, style-driven running clothes. Using the best fabrics and design, SOAR aims to bring unprecedented performance and style to the running market.
SOAR was founded in 2014 against a backdrop of a sportswear market with a positive long-term forecast. Bucking clothing market trends, the UK sportswear market grew 8% to £2.5bn in 2017. The UK ‘premium lifestyle’ clothing market is forecast to be £3.9bn by 2020 (£2.7bn in 2014).
Since starting trading in 2015, SOAR has maintained strong direct-to-consumer growth (FY18 94% YOY to £111.5k), whilst wholesale customers include premium lifestyle and fashion retailers Mr. Porter and MatchesFashion, and sportswear giant Wiggle. FY18 (to June) net revenue is £150k (-£218k net profit).
SOAR has recently signed an agreement to design and manufacture a clothing line in association with a global running phenomenon; launching to their community of 3 million runners in H2 2018.
Bespoke clothing partnerships form part of SOAR’s offering, including a recent collaboration with Strava, the social fitness app. Recent media coverage includes the FT, Guardian, Wall Street Journal and New York Times.
SOAR is seeking investment to accelerate scale in production, marketing, R&D, and operations.
