Sauce Shop is a craft sauce brand on a mission to bring delicious, fresh tasting and exciting condiments to the nation’s tables.
After growing tired of using bland supermarket sauces containing additives, in 2014 founders James and Pam Digva started to make their own. The idea was simple; use great ingredients, no cutting corners, and traditional cooking methods. The result is a range of sauces that have won 6 Great Taste Awards, featured in the Telegraph (10/10, highest score in Jan 2018 for Sauce Shop Sriracha) and voted #2 chilli sauce in the UK by Metro in 2017 (Green Sriracha).
The total condiment and dressings category is worth £971m, expected to grow to £1.012bn by 2021 (0.84% growth YOY). Table sauces specifically contribute the majority of value at £790m in the UK.
Consumers are becoming more likely to trade up to hand-crafted products, due to “Factory Fear” (Mintel, 2016); a fear of additives and processed foods prompting people to make more informed food choices.
Growth in the market is being driven predominantly by spicier/hotter or ‘trendy’ flavours, with 52% of consumers preferring a spicier sauce and 37% interested in the latest trend.
We believe Sauce Shop is perfectly positioned to capture this audience with an innovative range that spans chilli and hot sauces, ketchups and BBQ sauces, as well as mayonnaise.
