High-Density Hydro™ is, in our opinion, the holy grail of energy storage. RheEnergise has plans to take one of the oldest, most mature forms of energy storage: pumped hydro, and give it a new lease of life, aiming to make it 2.5x better. Developed by a highly experienced multi-disciplined team of energy innovators.
RheEnergise has taken one of the oldest forms of energy storage, pumped-hydro (reservoirs, dams) and developed an innovative solution - High-Density Hydro™. By installing on smaller hills and using our HD Fluid R-19™, which early modelling has indicated could provide 2.5x the energy compared to low-density pumped-hydro.
Bloomberg NEF predict that the global energy storage market will be worth in excess of $620bn by 2040 and that it needs to grow 100x its current size, implying a CAGR of over 17%. In the UK, Aurora Energy Research forecast a 13GW requirement by 2030. RheEnergise aims to install multiple High-Density Hydro projects thus helping to meet the UK's growing need for energy.
RheEnergise have agreed with SSE, WelshPower, GreenCat Renewables and REG-Power to act as our voice of customer for our demonstration project.
The company has won an industry innovation award. It is currently delivering both technical and commercial work packages against four of these awarded grants, providing current ongoing funding support of ~£270,000 in total over the next 9 months. We are aiming to build a defendable "moat" of IP (Patents, Design and copyrights, know-how and trade secrets) across 6 critical integrated sub-systems.
Funds will principally support match funding of awarded grants, to provide increased team breadth, progress patents and accelerate our activities.
