Pixie is a payment and loyalty app connecting people to independent businesses through a curated marketplace. After completing a successful pilot across 3 communities, 250 businesses, 5,000 users and £250k in transactions, it’s time to launch Pixie to the world, starting in London and Bristol.
Imagine a world without independent businesses. One with no variety. Is it one you’d like to live in? While serving in the Special Forces Pixie’s founder, Greg, witnessed how local commerce can positively impact a community. This drove his passion to create an alternative economy in which independents can thrive.
The result is Pixie, an app reimagining how people, whether in a local community or travelling, discover, pay and get rewarded for their loyalty across independent businesses. Integrated into the app is Pixie Pay, a bespoke payment solution which helps keep money in local hands.
Pixie’s revenue currently derives from transaction fees on Pixie Pay, but with funding, it can also include fees on conventional card transactions, annual discovery subscription, event and hotel booking and interest on balance held. Over 350 businesses in London and Bristol are ready to be upgraded to Pixie Pay, and Pixie has set a target of adding 6,000 businesses by end of year 2020 to capture an estimated transaction value of £200m+.
Funding will go towards direct marketing to independents, as well as growing the sales team and referral scheme, helping Pixie add 600 businesses and 30-50k users across London and Bristol area in 2019.
Pixie stands up for independents. Join the movement that’s redefining a sector, invest to share in Pixie’s success and make a difference to communities.
