One of the most recognisable breweries in southern Spain. An award winning music venue with restaurant/bar. Gold medal winner, with distribution in Carrefour, Marriott and presence in many local restaurants and bars. The brewery is seeking investment to expand production and grow the business.
Idea:
La Catarina was launched in 2012 by Marbella native Skander Alani and Pedro Bennet, with the goal of bringing Marbella it's first Craft Beer. Seven years later the company is one of the most recognisable breweries in Andalusia.
Market:
Andalusia alone has as many bars as Ireland, Denmark, Finland and Norway combined. Spain holds the European record for being home to the most bars per inhabitant. Craft beer has only recently become a growing trend.
Recent developments:
Took gold and bronze for beers Muelle de Hierro and Tarifa respectively. At the Barcelona beer challenge, the company took home a gold medal, one of the most prestigious award in Spain.
Trade customers include national retailers like Carrefour and number of restaurants and hotels, such as Puente Romano, Marbella Club and hotels like Vincci, Iberostar and Marriott.
Production is at maximum capacity, with 7,000 litres sold per month.
New brewery will allow for expansion over 50,000 litres per month.
In 2018 La Catarina generated €238k in Revenue and €5k EBITDA. With the companies newly launched restaurant, Cats Kitchen, monthly turnover is expected to increase significantly in 2019.
