HyperionDev teaches people to code through online courses that are powered by code review. The company has grown revenue by 600% in the last 2 years, registered over 150,000 students, reached profitability and works with clients like Lambda School and Makers.
HyperionDev began as a community of Computer Science university students in Africa and the UK trying to equalise tech education. Our core innovation was simple: efficiently connect top students to struggling ones, having them review code on structured courses.
This got financial backing from Facebook and Google in 2016/17, helping us deliver mentor-led tech education globally and perfect our proprietary technology for scaling online mentoring - what we call computer-assisted code review.
In a post-COVID world, we see our original motivations magnified: tech drives all essential services but the traditional university route to tech careers can be costly and slow, with high barriers to entry. We believe dropout rates remain high without smart technology to scale mentor support.
We want to change this. By deploying tech that aims to be AI-supported and a marketplace of code reviewers, we scale high-touch online coding bootcamps affordably.
Our model works. We’re rated as one of the top bootcamps globally and we’ve even (through our sister brand CoGrammar) helped other edtech companies like Andela, Makers and Lambda School scale their programmes.
In 2020 we reached profitability, £1M+ revenue, +£15k EBITDA and >250% user growth.
Join us in commercialising our model in a $300bn market and help us close the tech skills gap.
