Almost half of the world’s population has never experienced the internet. BuffaloGrid’s solar-powered Hub aims to change that, by facilitating phone charging and making digital content available to all. Join them on their mission to get a billion people connected to the internet.
Almost half the population of the world has never experienced the Internet.
In 2020, the consequences of the digital divide were starkly revealed by the COVID-19 pandemic, as people without connectivity were unable to work from home, attend school lessons or access healthcare services.
Our Solution is the BuffaloGrid Hub, a solar-powered device that can charge 10 portable electronic devices simultaneously and provide access to digital services.
The Hubs connects with the BuffaloGrid Cloud, a software platform accessible from anywhere, and users can access entertainment, sports, educational and health content via Wi-Fi.
Our users can stream our content within the reach of our WiFi for free, Premium users are able to download the content, for less than £1 per month, and consume it on the move.
Funds from this round will be used to deploy our first hubs in Bangladesh, incorporate a company in Nigeria to start operating in the peri-urban regions of Lagos, and collaborate with Techfugees and UN agencies for the deployment of our services across refugee camps in Kenya and Uganda.
