BANG! Curry was launched by Shelly Nuruzzaman and Mark Johnson to connect people to authentic food. Inspired by traditional recipes and cooking techniques from Shelly's family, both in Bangladesh and the UK, BANG! Curry offers a range of quick and healthy, curry kit products.
BANG! Curry operates a D2C model using retail and online sales to target the ‘home cooking’ community and operating in the UK market where 90% of people eat world food.
The UK World food market is worth £2.05b (2020) consisting of ready meals, sauces and cooking ingredients. Growth in sales for cooking ingredients rose 27.8% from 2019 to 2020, an increased trend in home cooking due to restrictions and a focus on health due to the pandemic. This trend is forecasted to continue long term.
In the last year alone BANG! Curry has achieved 600% growth on units sold via it's own E-Commerce, Amazon UK and Europe (FY2021, +100k units). This was achieved by focusing on online distribution during the restrictions and solidifying its supply chain. BANG! Curry gained listings with Holland and Barrett online and grew its own E-Commerce. The business has sold over 200,000 products and has a growing community of over 24,000.
In 2019 BANG! Curry raised investment to push into retail. This investment now seeks to increase online and retail sales channels and expand with new product development into other world cuisines.
