ARK Marine Ltd designs, manufactures and aims to sell innovative hardware for yachts for a wealthy worldwide community of yacht owners. Our ARK brand is safety and security at sea. Our first product lifts and launches dinghies from modern yachts unable to do so.
Ark Marine is a new business and a member of British Marine. We are an ideas factory to gather ideas not only from our team but others, productionise them, manufacture and distribute. The first product is Dinghy Derrick (DD), a solution for modern sailing yachts many of which cannot mount davits to carry dinghies, giving rise to some serious manhandling and safety issues. Yet the use of such yachts in almost any sailing expedition involves making dinghy trips to the shore for supplies, restaurants or exploring, or in emergencies.
The unique functionality of DD is an alternative to hauling up and deflating dinghies on deck. It suits the vast majority of modern yachts, and is simply pushbutton operated with enough power to carry and launch a RIB with outboard. There is further appeal to older yachties who struggle to carry aboard dinghies and heavy outboard engines. The video shows this in detail.
The team's research suggests the new product has a potential market size of $800m.
ARK has analysed an entirely novel approach to dinghy handling, devised a solution, designed and tested and readied the product for production. Our skills derive from a 1979 founded associate company (see legal note), which has designed and rebuilt cranes and rail kit, installed electrical gear, and provided naval architecture consultancy for clients such as the World Bank, BP and Crown Agents.
