Altr is an e-commerce startup fusing male grooming and cosmetics. After surpassing the target of our first fundraiser, recording over £45k monthly turnover, and doubling sales month on month Oct-Dec; we now seek additional funds to increase our product range, and expand abroad.
With a B2C business model, using a social media-centric marketing strategy, Altr's goal is to transform male cosmetics from a niche, high-end field, into a mass-market essential, helping guys to look and feel more confident, whilst seeking to take a commanding stake in the male grooming sphere.
Our One Poll survey last Spring revealed 1/5 guys in the UK have tried cosmetics, up from 1/10 six years ago. Social media has led to a generation of guys more conscious of their appearance than ever. The male grooming market is now a multi-billion industry, and we see the cosmetic industry growing exponentially within that.
We have experienced rapid growth, and revenues have doubled month on month Sep-Dec 2018, primarily due to expanding our SKU's, and optimising our marketing strategy.
We retail through our own website, which consisted of 68% of unit sales in December. We sell wholesale to Amazon in the UK, Spain, and Italy, and we also leverage the Amazon fulfilment platform in the US, achieving over $9000 worth of turnover in our first month. Long term we would like to transition to trading solely on our own website, however in the short term Amazon provides a great platform for expansion.
Circa 60% of investment would be used to expand our content marketing. 20% will be invested into further expanding our product range, and 20% on Capex and team expansion.
