In the last few days we’ve received a number of Awards nominations and votes, which needless to say, we absolutely delighted to be in receipt of and subsequently, to shout about.
So, first things first, London Loves Business voted us 3rd, in a list of the Top 20 Fin-Tech (finance technology) start-ups. According to a study by IC Dowson & William Garrity Associates Ltd and London New Finance, $1.92bn cumulative investment has been ploughed into the finance industry to date. According to London Loves Business, “we have a world class financial sector which requires the disruption and innovation provided by the scrappy start-ups to stay ahead of the game. Their products are largely B2B and so media attention, nay, adoration isn’t always as forthcoming. ”
Other businesses that were also nominated include Market Invoice, Zopa, Duedil, Borro and our old friends GoCardless.
We do have 2 minor points to say about this :
1 – we personally don’t agree that start-ups in general or us personally, are “scrappy”
2 – the last time we looked at a map, Exeter was still located in Devon!
The Guardian’s Small Business Network is currently holding a Best Practice Exchange, to collect and share as many examples of best practice across the SME community and reward innovative businesses and the people behind them.
Featuring in the ” Starting up” category, our entry met the judges’s criteria and our case study was published in the Guardian on Monday. You can click here to read it.
The next stage of the journey will be for the top 10 entries for each category to be featured in The Guardian. Keep your fingers crossed for us!
For the second year running we are thrilled to have been shortlisted for the Best Alternative Provider Award.
The Business MoneyFacts Awards are the largest finance awards in the UK, so it’s a real honour to be recognised as one of the leading alternative finance providers in the UK.
The Awards ceremony grows in stature year on year and will taking place in London, March 2013.
It’s these accolades that make all the difference to us. Whilst we believe we’re doing a solid job in providing an alternative source of finance for the SME market, it is these awards and lists that validate our work and give us more reason to push forward and make Crowdcube a household name.
